Historic Properties
Leonard Ryden Burr
Leonard Ryden Burr cares about historic properties and the communities which value them. From the colonial homes in Old Salem to the gingerbreads which sprang up in the late 19th/early 20th century industrial age, to the mid-century moderns to the stately mansions found in our many neighborhoods, historic properties continue to be a source of pride for Winston-Salem. We as an agency encourage the preservation and adaptive reuse of these irreplaceable gems. Our agents and clients appreciate the older properties for their uniqueness, architectural style, custom handiwork, and oftentimes their location in our city’s historic center.
One rehabilitation leads to another. As members of Preservation North Carolina, the state's only non-profit organization for historic preservation, we are proud to raise the level of awareness about the value and promise of historic preservation.
Leonard Ryden Burr is known for our expertise with historic properties and can help buyers and sellers understand the complex guidelines associated with different historic properties or districts. Wondering what the difference is between a National Register Historic District and a Local Historic District, and how that impacts the changes you can make to your property? We can help! Curious about the history of your new home – when it was built, who lived there, what role it played in the neighborhood? Ask us! We love our town and its history, and are happy you have chosen to play a part in preserving it.
